Lori Elder, Co-Producer

Lori Elder, Co-Producer

Lori Elder, Co-Producer

Lori Elder, Co-Producer is also Principal of PR4Good, a Vancouver Island firm providing strategic communications and public relations advice to non-profits, individuals and small businesses.

A passionate advocate for quality children’s programming, and trusted communications specialist with over 25 years of experience, Lori is known for her warm personality and strong relationship building skills.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in (Mass Media) Communications from Lewis & Clark College, and a Diploma in  Public  Relations from the University of Victoria, and has a broad range of both paid and volunteer work in print, TV and radio. Lori has dabbled in everything from  floor directing, to script writing to video editing. All have helped her to learn the in’s and out’s behind the scenes –  and have  given her a huge respect for  professionals like Karen and her husband Dai, and colleague Lindsay who make it all look so easy.

While in Portland, Oregon, Lori won a prestigious internship as Assistant Producer of a children’s television show at an ABC affiliate. Here she had her first opportunity to write, edit and experience firsthand the positive impact that children’s programming can have on kids. Each week, children from across the Pacific  Northwest would send post cards to “Kernel Popcorn”- the show’s on-air computer/host- to share what they loved about the show, what things they would like to learn more about, and even the difficult circumstances they were experiencing at home. Sitting cross-legged in her dorm room, responding to a mail bag full of post  cards from inquisitive kids each week, was both heart-warming- and sometimes even heart-breaking. However, it became clear that helping to create meaningful  and educational programming for kids was an important “bucket list” item to be achieved.

Lori is thrilled to be part of this very talented team, working on her dream project – this exciting new series!

Dai Davies, DOP / Editor

Dai Davies, DOP / Editor

Dai Davies, DOP / Editor

Dai accidentally drifted into TV production in 1980 when he took a job in the BBC’s videotape department to support his career as a musician. It turned out he had a natural talent for editing, and had stumbled into the world’s best editing school outside of Hollywood! This fortunate coincidence led to a successful 22 year career as one of the BBC’s top editors, working on every genre and in every department.

Having reached the top in editing, where do you go next? In Dai’s case, it was Vancouver Island, having fallen in love with Victoria, BC while working there as part of  the BBC’s Commonwealth Games team. He moved there in 2002, and set up Cedarwood Productions with wife, Karen in 2003.

12 years later, Cedarwood has produced three seasons of Flavours of the West Coast, a food and travel show, two seasons of The Hard Way, a business reality show,  two seasons of Realty Reality, a home buying show, several documentaries and numerous corporate projects. He is now an accomplished Director and DOP, and, of  course, is still editing.

Dai’s Canadian DOP and Editing credits include:
